SU&SD, Tariffs, and Sponsored Contentby SU&SD on April 24, 2025
Hello! Basically every single year I’ve worked for Shut Up & Sit Down, I’ve typed out the words: “it’s been a weird year” …and 2025 is proving to be absolutely no exception! We’ve just put out a sponsored video onto the channel, and that feels weird. I’ve taken some time, below, to chat about why.

Shut Up & Sit Down, Quinns Quest, and The Year Aheadby SU&SD on February 1, 2024
Tom: Hey folks! We wanted to kick off the year with an update that goes over what Shut Up & Sit Down is going to be up to in 2024. This is the kind of thing we normally reserve for the newsletter, but we wanted this to be broadly accessible so that everyone’s in the ... Read more

Tom: October! Spooky Month! This one’s packed with TREATS! No tricks, I promise! It’s candy! Go on, bite it! BITE IT! Mmmmmmmm. Yum. Isn’t that nice? Tasty Tasty Cardboard. Videos! Let’s talk about those! We’ve got absolutely loads this month – a double bill of Emily sandwiching the second part of myself and Quinns’ Reiner ... Read more

Pod-pauseby SU&SD on September 15, 2023
Hi folks! We wanted to put out a quick announcement that the Shut Up & Sit Down Podcast is going to take a very small break, for a few weeks. A spread of bad luck with recording, a few bouts of illness, some planned holiday and a couple of imminent conventions have left us little ... Read more

This September in Shut Up & Sit Down!by Tom Brewster on September 1, 2023
Tom: September already? Summer literally collapsed in front of my very eyes here in Brighton, where the weather took a harsh left-turn into dribblesville. It’s SAD over here all of a sudden. But I’m HYPE about this month! Four gleaming-hot videobabies for you to clap your peepers on this month - a cracking vid from Emily about a tiny little eurogame, a soon-to-be-filmed vid from Matt about a much hyped eurogame, and a couple videos from me about small card games - one classic and one brand new. It’s a zero-Quinns month, but his videos are both timed releases for October, so you’ll see more of him there where we’re covering two chunky (and very good!) boxes from Dr Kniz himself. Podcasts are always a bit of an unpredictable soup based on what we have and haven’t played, but you can expect them to trickle out at their usual pace whilst we work on a few behind-the-scenes bonuses - more on that in our August and September newsletters. That’s the month! Nice and simple before we hit ‘CHUNKY OCTOBER’ and ‘BIG NOVEMBER’ which are jam-packed with some real cracking titles. What have you been up to, everybody?

This August In Shut Up & Sit Down!by Tom Brewster on August 4, 2023
Tom: AaaAA! CHAOS MONTH! I’ve been internally referring to August as ‘Big Month’ for the past few weeks but the more time I spend sort-of-planning-it-out the more I realise a better way to describe it might be ‘CHAOS MONTH’. We’ve got some videos planned! What are they, and when are they coming out? Science bears no answers. Podcasts? Oh yeah, we’ve got a few, and they’ll be near your ears… soon? Yeah, probably! Help. Please bear with us, for August is the month that we’re actually launching the studio stuff to donors at the same time as both Matt and Quinns taking time off. I’m truly laying the train track whilst it runs, Gromit-Style. Wish me luck! CHAOS MONTH!

This July In Shut Up & Sit Down!by Tom Brewster on July 3, 2023
Tom: Hello Gamers; big and small and wide and tall. This is going to be a very brief ‘This Month In’ because July is, to quote myself right now, ‘Popping Off’! Let’s GET TO IT! The big event early this month is that we’ll be spilling every single bean on all our future plans in a summer update video and newsletter. The video itself will give you the rough idea; but if you’re a donor to the site the next newsletter in your inbox will be absolutely rammed with details about all the new plans we’re going to tinker with in the near future. Videos! We’re actually recording a bunch of reviews for the future, so you might see a small dip in the pace we’ve been setting recently, and a surge of content when the games we’re chatting about actually release. We will have a video very soon, though, for a game you couldn’t possibly predict! We’re also hoping to have recorded a bit of a convention report whilst we’re at RopeCon in Helsinki; so expect no video that week whilst we’re busy getting beaten by the Finns, and a bruised and bloody report soon after. Podcasts! We’ll be chatting about Golem, we’ll be rambling about My Island, we’ve got further thoughts about Iki, we’ve entered My Gold Mine, we’re taking on the Great Machine, and we’ve… Zoo Vadis’ed? So many games, lots of them good, and we’re jazzed to tell you more about them all. We're also trying to record more in-person pods - they're lovely for energy and ease and so I think, perhaps, going back to them might be the way forward. Streams we’re running will be kept continually pretty chill and inconsistent, as per usual. It’s fun to hang out exactly when I’ve the energy for it, and so far the slightly pottering pace has been perfect! That’s all for this month! Plenty to come very soon… What have you been up to, everybody?

This June In Shut Up & Sit Down!by Tom Brewster on June 6, 2023
Tom: Hello! Sorry for a slightly late monthly post here - we’ve been scrambling together videos and podcasts aplenty before pootling up to Birmingham for a whole load of the UK Games Expo! We had a wonderful time and have come back loaded with games and excitement for them - an excitement that will gently trickle out of us into all kinds of fun content. Ew. We’ve got a really lovely slice of videos lined up for you this month. Very soon we’ll have a review of Beast for you - a cracking iteration of the hidden movement genre that throws us right back into the kinds of games SU&SD reviewed when it was just a little baby. We’ve also got a video review of War of the Ring: The Card Game, as well as some quick-and-nasty reviews for games we played at expo. We’re slowly gearing back into the rhythm of more regular videos, so expect a whole heap of content over the next few months! (I hope!) Podcasts-wise? It’s the wild west out there. We’ve played so many games, and next week myself and Matt will be sitting down to record multiple pods telling you all about them. I don’t entirely know what to expect from those, or even how long we’ll record, but we played enough exciting games to keep us chatting for a good long while. They’re making some great stuff out there! As for streams - I think I might start worming my way through the System Shock remake very soon - but I’m thinking about changing the day we stream on. More on that soon, as it’ll all abide by the classic stream motto - “idk, it’s chill”. For donors to the site, the next newsletter will be a fun recap of UKGE and will arrive a little later than usual - I was thinking about writing it whilst there, but I was simply having too much fun. What a silly job. Thank you for letting me do it!
