Ares Games expands distribution operation to offer titles from five other board game publishers in Europe
Italy-based Ares Games has expanded its distribution operation again by signing a deal with five other board game publishers to help get their games into the hands of European players.
The War of the Ring publisher has added Europe to its existing distribution partnerships with Poland’s Galakta Games, Italy’s Tabula Games, Czech Republic-based Albi, and France’s Nuts! Publishing and Don’t Panic Games, for which it already has various deals covering North America and other parts of the world.
Ares director of production Roberto Di Meglio told BoardGameWire the move would help the publishers, which had all previously been managing their own distribution in Europe, with a more effective allocation of their titles.
He added, “We have already signed up one new publisher to distribute in 2026, but we want to expand the number of partners with care, to make sure we can service them well.
“We already have an EU warehouse, located in Italy, so we were ready to take this step before we took it.”
The deal means games such as This War of Mine, Mysthea, Mini Rogue, Fighters of the Pacific and Dirt & Dust are now available in Ares’ Italian warehouse for supply to other European distributors, retailers and for direct sales.

The same logistical hub also allows Ares to service the UK market – and gamers in Europe and the UK can now get the English edition of relevant games by ordering them through Ares’ online shop.
Ares’s latest distribution push comes seven months after it signed deals to distribute titles from Tabula Games and Czech-based Albi – the former into English-speaking markets such as the US, and the latter globally outside of Europe – with the United States forming a major element of that.
Di Meglio told BoardGameWire at the time that Ares hoped to prove “there is still life for our industry during the trade war”, referring to the volatile imposition of tariffs by the US throughout 2025.
Speaking of how those deals had panned out since, Di Meglio said, “We are very happy how Tabula and Albi products are performing, with some of them, such as Dirt & Dust and soon-to-release The Last Spell, being particularly noteworthy.
“We are growing in small steps, but considered how complex is the situation in the US in these days, we are quite happy of this slow but steady progress.
He added, “The current level of tariffs is not something to be happy about, but manageable. However, we have seen through 2025 that the rates can change abruptly and unexpectedly – this means we must be very careful about which products we pick, more than ever.
“The tariffs reduce our margins, hence we must be more conservative in risk-taking than we were before, and do a tighter selection on our catalog and our partnerships.”
