▪️ Office Dog released Gunsen: The Battle for Toshi Ranbo from designers Matthew O’Malley and Ben Rosset (Fromage & The Search for Planet X). This game plays 2-6 players and has a box playtime of 60-90 minutes. The race is on to complete 7 objectives first.

From BGG:

In Gunsen: The Battle for Toshi Ranbo, Rokugan teeters on the brink of upheaval as the Great Clans—the Crab, Crane, Dragon, Lion, Phoenix, Scorpion, and Unicorn—clash for control of the legendary fortress, Toshi Ranbo. Once a strategic gem on the borderlands, the castle now stands at the heart of a war-torn battlefield, its banners contested by rival warlords seeking glory and vengeance. The air hums with the tension of drawn steel and elemental magic, as ancient shrines smolder and village alliances shift like the wind.

In this strategy game, players take on the role of ambitious daimyō representing one of the seven Great Clans: recruiting samurai heroes, drafting powerful orders, and building their clan’s military might and strategic influence. Through tactical maneuvers and clever engine-building, they strive to fulfill seven victory objectives—from capturing and holding the coveted castle to completing secret missions and claiming sacred locations. Only one clan will write its legend in the blood-soaked chronicles of Toshi Ranbo.

▪️ Capsule Collector will be one of many games found at Spiel from Korea Boardgames. Capsule Collector is a small box card game for 2-4 players and plays in 15 minutes. From designer Joohyun. Be sure to check out all the titles from Korea Boardgames!

From BGG:

Capsule Collector is a set-collection game for 2–4 players in which players compete to gather and open colourful toy capsules. Players draw cards from a deck and add them to a communal queue, then choose a colour and take all available cards of that colour to fill a 4×4 personal collection grid. Because cards are initially collected “capsule-side” up, players must strategically activate Action Tiles to flip them to their “toy-side” to score points. The game features a dynamic action system where the number of cards collected in a turn determines which tile is activated, and tiles are shifted after use to change the available actions for future turns. The game concludes when a player fills their 16-card grid, leading to a final scoring phase. Toys vary in rarity; for example, a colour set like red might contain three high-value “5-star” toys, five “3-star” toys, and ten “1-star” toys, which shifts the probability of a big score depending on the colour’s total card count. To maximize points, players must use “Open” actions to flip connected groups of the same colour or spend Open Tokens for individual reveal.
